If you ever doubted how connected we all are, the recent earthquake in Haiti is a testament to the power of us all to come together to support our fellow man.
I was born in the Dominican Republic, so Haitians are more than Caribbean compatriots to me - they are my brothers, sisters, and neighbors. And many of my friends and colleagues have family in Haiti whose well being is still uncertain.
The next question on many people’s minds after learning about the earthquake devastation in Haiti has been: How can I help? Most organizations are asking for monetary donations. They are not seeking material items, like clothes or food, or volunteers at this time. And the Federal Aviation Authority has now suspended flights bound for Haiti - so it is difficult to lend a personal hand by going there yourself.
CNN has compiled a list of highest-rated charities so that you know your donations are going to a financially responsible and proactive organization. Click here to access the CNN article.
Monikah, so glad you chose your piece of the internet real estate as a platform for caring, sharing and bearing the burdens of others.
God is pleased.
